This past Saturday, my husband Dave & I had one of our first outside dates since the pandemic started. It was wonderful. We choose to visit Bull City Ciderworks for their soft opening, which turned out not to be a soft opening. Apparently a lot of other people were looking for things to do or waiting for our first cidery to open in Greensboro. YAY!! Finally we have a place to hang and have a few adult beverages. Dave enjoyed the Smooth Hoppenator, dry with a bit of hoppiness. Reminiscent of a beer, which he really misses since being diagnosed as celiac. I choose to have a flight of ciders. It was heavenly. I choose mostly dry ciders, too much sugar makes my stomach upset, plus it's bad for the immune system. My choices from left to right, (if I remember correctly) Off Main, Rhize Up, Oyah, Jack & Oat (I think) and Cherry Tart. I enjoyed all of them. Possibly Rhize Up is my favorite. I'm a big ginger beer fan. Shout out to Ginger's Revenge, I would love them to have a location here in Greensboro. Anyone else up for them to have a second location?? Bull City Ciderworks - Greensboro has plenty of outdoor space. So it's a perfect place to gather with friends or family and still be socially distant. Right now they only have 1 fire pit which was a popular location on Saturday. However the owner mentioned he has umbrella patio heaters coming for those colder days sitting outside. When we arrive the taco truck was just packing up, and the Rockin Morrocan food truck had just arrive. We had a great discussion with one of the owners about their menu. They have a few items my husband and daughter can eat, they both are celiac and have dairy allergies. So we have to be super careful about food choices and make sure vendors and restaurants fully understand their allergies. Presently they do not have a gluten free pita option, however we made a suggestion on where they could locate them. I know Mediterranean Deli in Chapel Hill and I erroneously mentioned Ghassan's Fresh Mediterranean Eats here in Greensboro. However after reviewing their menu I do not believe that is correct. I have not seen any gluten free pita listed. We pick up an order of grape leaves to go with tzatziki sauce for me to drip my grape leaves in. The grape leaves were amazing, however in hind sight we wonder if the rice was made with dairy. Dave ended up with dairy like reactions later that night. He wasn't bad off, we just didn't want to be around him. If you know what I mean. LOL Check out these awesome grape leaves. Two orders of grapes leaves was plenty to eat. We had about 12 delicious rolls.
